2 Chronicles 7:14 Many of us have prayed and declared this scripture at least once, asking God to hear our prayer and heal our land, and how desperately our land needs healing!
A few years ago a massive prayer initiative was launched; thousands gathered in stadiums and all prayers centered around this specific verse. “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin, and will heal their land”. On 22 April 2017, hundreds of thousands, some say over a million people, gathered on a farm in the Free State to pray the same prayer. The man of God, brother Angus Buchan, heard from God, was obedient and did what he was told. Thank God our Father for that!!! How much more proof does anybody need to realize that God is serious about this issue? What is God saying to us? Let’s look at that verse in more detail. 1.”If my people, which are called by my name“ This indicates that God is specifically calling on His children to adhere to His call and to do certain things. 2.“Shall humble themselves” As a physical expression, people may bow themselves before God in prayer. This is right and good, however, to humble yourself before God is infinitely more than just that. It means that you come to God with a contrite, genuine, sincere heart, you fully realize that pride, which God hates more than anything, must have no place in your life. You realize that you are nothing, and that God is everything. 3.“And pray” How do you pray and what are you really saying? Does it come from your heart or do you just recite the words with all the other people? 4.“And seek my face” To seek God's face means you spend time with God. This takes time and effort because you have to cut yourself off from anything else and focus on Him. 5.“And turn from their wicked ways” This means you seriously consider, and you get brutally honest, with yourself. It is a reality check on how you live your life. You should consider the following: fear, depression, anxiety, racial issues and intolerance, anger, business and financial dishonesty, unforgiveness and strive between spouses, family and your spiritual family. Throughout the Bible, God's promises are always linked to a condition or conditions. In the passage we are considering, we have exactly that. The promise: God will hear from heaven, forgive our sin and heal our land. The question is - are we adhering to and do we comply with God's four conditions to heal our land? You as an individual, not your spouse, friend or the preacher...do YOU comply? Take notice of the next verse (15), "Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayers that are made in this place." God is more ready, willing and able to heal our land than we are. So, God is not the problem, we are. How many more times must God ask? God is interested in a personal and close-up relationship with us. Read through the four conditions again and you'll notice that God is inviting you into a personal relationship with Him. If there is someone reading this and who does not know how to go about it, the first and best place to start is to check up on your personal relationship with God. If you are born again, if you have given your life to God through Jesus Christ, then go to the teaching on PRIORITIES, and have a look at the other teachings. If however, you are unsure of your relationship with God, if you have any doubt in any way and you cannot answer the question whether you are ready right now, if Jesus comes back or if you die, that you will go to heaven, then there is good news - you CAN be sure! God's Word says in Romans 10: 9-10 (paraphrased), if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. Verse 10 says, “with your heart you believe unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”. Now say this aloud so that you can hear yourself and that satan can also hear it, for he cannot hear your thoughts. “God in heaven, I come to you according to Your Word. I renounce and reject satan, I confess my sin, I believe that Jesus died for my sin and that He rose from the dead. I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Thank you Father for saving me and making me Your child”. As a baby Christian you need to grow spiritually. The Word of your Father, the Bible, is the best food you can ever have. Please go to the list of dvd's where you will find one called "Our Righteousness In Him" and "My ID In Christ", nr. 5. If you can, order it and listen to it several times. Also read the books of Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians and 1 John several times. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you build a strong relationship with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
